Bobber, Teich & Pippin LLC Secures Confidential Settlement in Medical Malpractice Case
Bobber, Teich & Pippin LLC recently secured a confidential settlement on behalf of a client in a medical malpractice case involving a serious surgical error.
The case involved a 69-year-old cancer patient who underwent surgery at an Illinois hospital to remove a tumor and lymph nodes. During the procedure, a surgical sponge was inadvertently left in the patient's neck.
For months following the surgery, the patient experienced pain, swelling, and drainage from the surgical site. Despite repeatedly raising these concerns with his medical team, the underlying cause was not identified. Eventually, another physician discovered the retained surgical sponge and successfully removed it during a second surgery.
The medical error caused months of unnecessary pain and suffering, required an additional surgical procedure, and delayed the patient's cancer treatment.
Partner Michael Teich and Associate Dominick Ranallo represented the patient and successfully prosecuted the medical malpractice claim against the hospital, obtaining a confidential settlement on the client's behalf.
While the terms of the resolution remain confidential, this case underscores the importance of holding healthcare providers accountable when preventable medical errors cause harm.
